課程概述 |
This course is a comprehensive examination of the nature, extent and consequences of white-collar crime with emphasis on the law and social control from the criminal justice perspective. At the completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Recognize the nature and extent of white-collar crime.
2. Distinguish different types of white-collar crime in contemporary society.
3. Evaluate the consequences of white-collar crime in contemporary society.
4. Analyze the responses to white-collar crime from the viewpoint of criminal justice.

COURSE POLICY
1. Regular attendance is considered essential in accomplishing the purpose and goals of this course. Students are required to come to class on time. For the course administration purpose, the instructor will pass the sign-in sheet in the beginning of every meeting. Students are responsible for signing in before the end of class.
2. Students are encouraged to participate in class discussion, but private conversations between students while class is in session are not permitted.
3. Academic honesty is required. Any student caught cheating in the exam will result in a zero, a formal report being filed, and other potential penalties in line with the NTU related policies.
4. The instructor will attempt to adhere to the course schedule as listed in the Units of Study, but it is subject to modify depending upon the progress of this class, the change of academic calendar, and unexpected events. If there is a change, students will be noticed by announcements in the class. It is students’ responsibility to observe the schedule. |

There will be a group discussion in the end of Units 1-5. Students may earn a maximum number of 10 points for each in-class group discussion. You will receive zero if you are absent. No excuse is allowed for this part of credit. |

Final Exam |
50% |
A one-hour exam covering Units 1-6 will be given on May 26. The exam consists of 15 items of multiple-choice questions and one short-essay question. |
